Pen and Pencil Picks Posted on October 11, 2019October 13, 2019 by admin I have a new favorite pencil: Blackwing 602 pencils. I splurged on them after reading that the brilliant composer Stephen Sondheim uses them. I LOVE THEM! Lovely to write with, dark enough to see but easy to erase with the attached eraser. Kids like them because the erasers look like little paintbrushes and they don’t require a lot of pressure.I like the perfect balance and sleek color. Highly recommended. I found out about these Muji Gel Ink Pens from my daughter. She uses them to annotate books and they’ve been excellent for my students who like to use color to help them learn and understand music. I bought this Palomino Long Point Pencil Sharpener, because my adult students swore it was fabulous. It sharpens pencils using a two step sharpening process. The first step sharpens the pencil’s wood case. The second step sharpens the graphite core. Comes with two replacement blades. It’s nice for moments when I want to quickly and quietly sharpen a pencil. This iPoint Electric Pencil Sharpener is near me on my teaching table so I can keep all my pencils sharp. I love the feeling of being organized. I didn’t say I’m organized, I said that I like the feeling. My Brother Label Maker makes me feel better. And things look neater. I use it for labeling file folders, shelves with music, and anything that could benefit from a clean little tag. The tape lasts a LONG time, so don’t worry that you’ll have to replace it constantly. I like buying highlighters in sets. I tend to misplace single ones, and I like to give my students choices. I bought this exact set in 2014 and it’s still going strong. Definitely a winner for longevity! These Staedtler Highlighters are the best I’ve ever found and everyone agrees that these colors are the best they’ve ever used. (The unusual Teal highlighter seems to be everyone’s favorite.) The Frixion Erasable Highlighters are especially helpful for young children. They can change their minds and the highlighters erase like magic!
